Fun Ways To Preserve Your Christmas Lights

It is always an exciting time when the holidays roll around and the Christmas lights are being prepared to be put up inside and outside your home. It is not so exciting when it comes time to take all that lighting down and put it all away. Luckily, this kind of lighting can be left up all year long without having to worry about taking it down and finding a a place to put it all; it can be a lot of fun.

If you have spent the time to place every single light along the edges of your house, in your shrubs, and along your walk ways, there is really no need to remove them. Not only will leaving them up and lighting them at night give your home a festive look all year long, but you save yourself the hassle of hoisting yourself up a ladder in the freezing cold to take them down. If you are sensitive about what your neighbors may think or say, it may be a difficult decision to make.

Keeping your holiday lighting on your home will certainly give your house some personality. Sure, people will talk about the kook that kept their Christmas luminaries through the summer. However, you will enjoy a brisk, snowy December day in a warm, inviting house watching your neighbors struggling to get their lighting up. Yours will already be up.

Using strands of blinking, twinkling lighting inside your home can compliment any kind of decor you have. If you wind a string of white lamps around a tall plant, it will instantly transform an otherwise boring plant into a work of art. It can also be used for a night light or even mood lighting when entertaining friends. This is a beautiful way to recycle the Christmas ambiance all year.

A creative way to use holiday light options can be had in any room of the house. Kitchen lighting can sometimes be harsh; using smaller bulbs in places like under cupboards can create a soft affect there. They use little energy to run, so the money saved can be used for other things.

If you are throwing a party, and are at a loss as to make your space unique and beautiful, try using this kind of lighting in different ways. Try stapling them to your ceiling in different shapes and sizes all along the room. Use different color bulbs to make the space a festive place to be.

A great craft project for kids is using a string of the lighting and attaching material over the bulbs. Make sure you use something that is resistant to heat, and you have a unique way to light up a room or an item in any room. Its a great way to keep the kids busy on a day that they have to stay indoors.

Leaving your Christmas lights up all year long has many advantages for you. If you do not mind the snickers and comments from people passing by your house about how tacky it appears to be, it is a great way to lend a little holiday cheer to both your house and your neighborhood. Using them indoors can add to the feel of comfort only different kinds of lighting can produce.
